More couples are adding drones to their wedding-day wish lists to capture stunning aerial shots of their special day.

The good: Photography drones produce beautiful, cinematic aerial shots. These remote-controlled quadcopters offer a macro view of your wedding that no one gets to see.



If you’re considering wedding drone photography, heed these tips before taking flight.

  1. First, make sure drones are allowed in your venue’s area.

  2. Venues for drone photography are improtatnt. Not all are good locations.

  3. Drones are sometimes a good distraction.

  4. That being said: keep flight time to a minimum or shoot at a very high altitude.

  5. Consider the environment. Wide, open spaces are better.

  6. Higher is not always better. Shoot at an angle.

  7. Aerial shots take time to set up.

  8. For destination weddings, aerial footage can give your wedding video a good sense of the surrounding city.

Aerial Drone Video of Worcester, MA

The 17-year-old aspiring documentarian and filmmaker, Mr. Kariuki, recently released an aerial drone video of Worcester (above) that has gone viral. On Friday the video, shot as an ode to the city, was released and quickly received a lot of attention. Within 24 hours it had been viewed 100,000 times on Vimeo, and it had nearly 300,000 views by Monday afternoon.

2,000 Beluga Whales Captured in Rare and Stunning Arctic Drone Video

For the first time, a wildlife photographer whose family has been frequenting the Arctic for three generations has captured 2,000 beluga whales in stunning video taken with a drone over the course of four weeks.

The footage is captured off Somerset Island is unique in that is said to be the first to film Arctic wildlife with the use of a drone.

The beluga whales, congregating in one of the last beluga whale nurseries on Earth, is definitely magical from a bird’s eye view. Read more
